Founder & Director
Dr. Akira Shah, Ph.D. (Oxon)
Akira is a distinguished sociocultural and cognitive scientist specialized in anthropology. He founded Anthrohesion to foster more humanly cohesive environments for organizations and individuals, primarily through workshops and advisories informed by cutting-edge research. The consultancy also seeks to make such research more accessible to the general public, while supporting other projects aiming to better understand and facilitate aspects of human equity.
In academia, Akira is currently JSPS Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Contemplative Studies, Keio University (Japan). He is also Postdoctoral Affiliate at the School of Anthropology & Museum Ethnography, University of Oxford (UK), and Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the Japan Research Centre, SOAS University of London (UK). His current research relates to conflicts emerging from divergent ideologies, pedagogies, and languages of global education in Japanese societies. Other key research themes range from the negotiation of complex socio-genetic and transnational identities, to systemic forms of cultural inequity.
Akira received a Doctor of Philosophy (D.Phil.) degree in Anthropology at the University of Oxford in 2023. Prior to this, he was awarded distinction classifications for Master of Research (M.Res.) and Master of Arts (M.A.) degrees by University College London and SOAS University of London.
Akira actively collaborates with a range of other partner agencies to further Anthrohesion’s mission.
